Firtree Newsletter                November 2022                     Issue 523

(Friends in retirement taking relaxation, exercise and education)

Now we are fifty and after the celebration lunch on the 29th November it is straight into the Christmas Programme. Yes! We can use that word again, and here is the Tuesday programme that will see 2022 out:

1st November                 Cartoons and TV comedy with Mark

8th November                 Games day

15th November               Peter Hague will be telling us about the Royal Jewels

22nd November              Games day

29th November               Games day and Celebration Lunch

6th December                 Party Pieces

13th December               Carol Service

Firtree is then on holiday until Tuesday January 10th. Meantime, we wish all our members a very good Christmas and a happy 2023.

Having celebrated our fiftieth birthday, it is also a whole year since we began our friendship with Grange United Reformed Church. The URC also celebrated their fiftieth anniversary recently, so it is celebration all the way round.

The Garden Circle met on the 10th October when they had tea at Gloria’s. They have a winter break now, starting back with a belated Christmas Lunch on Monday 13th February.

You will be glad to know that the Rev. David Jenkins is coming again to lead our Carol Service. It is also time for our Party Pieces and that of course means you!!!

Please let Colin know if you are able (willing) to take part, either as a reader in the Carol Service, or as part of the entertainment in Party Pieces.

Meanwhile, let’s not forget our Turkey and Tinsel holiday from the 21st to the 25th of November – have a welcome break folks, and don’t forget your secret envelope!
